Spokesperson of JEM Highlights the Significance of Al-Hilu’s Hard Power That Defected Recently

Cairo – Sudanhorizon – Sabah Musa
The official spokesman for the Justice and Equality Movement, Dr. Mohamed Zakaria, confirmed that the step taken by Abdel Aziz Al-Hilu in alliance with the Rapid Support Militia was met with great rejection by the bases and masses of the popular movement that he leads.
Zakaria said in special statements to the Sudanhorizon news website that this step proved that Al-Hilu is not loyal to the project of the popular movement, and therefore a group of field leaders in the movement with great weight made their decision to separate from Al-Hilu and join the Justice and Equality Movement, adding that Justice and Equality has a national project and a national vision, and that this joining strengthens our project in the movement, stressing that the new arrivals to Justice and Equality will be a great addition to the movement.
He pointed out that the timing of this group’s joining came at a time when the armed forces and Justice and Equality were fighting major battles on various fronts in Kordofan, which were recently crowned by lifting the siege on El Obeid. He said that the army and Justice and Equality Forces present in Kordofan achieved major victories on the Deling-Kadogli axis, explaining that the joining of these forces today will enhance these victories, and that they will contribute to lifting the siege on Kadugli. He added that the bias of this group is a bias for the homeland against Al-Hilu, who has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that his project is not national. Zakaria explained that a large number of those who joined the Justice and Equality Movement from the SPLM, in addition to a number of important field leaders, and he said that they are not only a military formation but also have great social and political weight, adding that this indicates that these societal groups of these leaders will be part of the bias towards the homeland, and that they will bring the real weight to the battle, and he continued, no matter the size of this force and its equipment, this position will be weighed and tipped in their favor against those who work against the homeland.
He explained that the reports about the number of Al-Hilu’s forces are somewhat exaggerated. He said that the evidence for this is the great defeats inflicted by the armed forces on Al-Hilu’s forces, adding that this group that joined us is the group that represents the hard power in the popular movement, and that its joining will weaken Al-Hilu’s movement militarily after it was weakened politically by the step of the alliance with the Rapid Support Militia, considering that those who joined the Justice and Equality Movement found in its project what expresses their desires and aspirations, and he said that the Justice and Equality Forces and all the armed struggle movements will be integrated into the army after the war, stressing that the Justice and Equality Forces are fighting under the banner of the armed forces and under their command according to the rules of engagement, and he said that this confirms our keenness to end the scene of multiple armies. Zakaria revealed that Al-Hilu violated the ceasefire agreements with the government before signing the Nairobi Charter, and that his forces attacked civilians in the villages around Kadugli, and that they bombed the city on many occasions and imposed a siege on it preventing civilian and commercial convoys from reaching it, stressing that there was complete coordination between Al-Hilu and the militia forces even before signing the Nairobi Charter, and he saw that Al-Hilu’s escape from signing the agreement platform was a natural result of the violent attack that this step received from his forces, and he said that pushing leaders from the movement to sign on behalf of Al-Hilu is evidence that the popular movement has lost its will and that it does not have a real project.
He would go on to indicate that the group that split from Suleiman Sandal, who split from the movement, confirmed that he is a traitor to the country and represents an arm of the militia despite his claim of neutrality, and he said that Sandal’s group now consists of individuals who can be counted on the fingers and that it has no masses or project.
On a separate note, Zakaria saw what happened with the Nairobi group in the British Parliament as just a storm in a teacup, explaining that this group paid a public relations agency to facilitate their entry into the British Parliament, and that they brought a member of parliament only to speak, and did not know the background of those who committed crimes against humanity. He said that these communications made by members of the House of Commons in Britain are routine communications made to the public, and that there was no political proposal in this meeting, adding that the Nairobi group falsely claimed in the media that it discussed issues of supporting their parallel government.
He continued stating, “We communicated with the British government, and it confirmed to us its firm and steadfast position in supporting unity in Sudan, and their complete rejection of any direction taken by the Rapid Support Militia, reiterating the steadfastness of El Fasher in the face of all the conspiracies being hatched there, and he said that now the march will head from El Obeid to El Fasher, adding that I doubt their ability to announce the government from El Fasher.
