Sudanhorizon – Nazik Shammam
The Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation revealed that Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey have proposed projects to rebuild what has been destroyed by the war in Sudan.
Islam Salama, Director of the Promotion Department at the ministry, told Sudanhorizon news website that there are proposed programs involving all state institutions to prioritize projects in the coming period.
He noted that these programs focus on infrastructure projects and the rehabilitation of cities and villages damaged by the war.
Mr. Salama anticipated a surge in reconstruction projects for all war-affected areas in the near future. He confirmed the existence of development projects in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, in addition to energy-related projects, highlighting coordination with all relevant ministries.
Islam Salama also disclosed that two forums will be held in the next phase: the Sudanese-Egyptian Forum, which will take place in June instead of April, and a joint committee between the public and private sectors will prepare for it in Port Sudan.
He stated, “The projects to be presented at the Sudanese-Egyptian Forum will involve both the private and government sectors.”
He added that “the initiative proposed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia focuses on developing energy, electricity, and water sectors.”
He continued, “The government will work on identifying priority projects within the first six months.”
He further noted, “These projects will be offered to companies with significant expertise and financial capacity.”
He explained that the second forum is the Sudanese-Turkish Forum, which will be held soon in Port Sudan and will present reconstruction projects in industry, free zones, port logistics, and infrastructure rehabilitation.
Salama emphasized that “the investment sector is open to all countries and is not limited to specific ones, welcoming investment projects from all nations.”
