The Minister of Minerals, Nour Al-Daem Taha, has received an official invitation from the Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources to participate in the International Mining Conference scheduled to be held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
The ministry announced on its Facebook page (Saturday) that the minister met with the Saudi Ambassador to Sudan, Ali Hassan bin Jaafar, at the ministry headquarters, during which he received the invitation.
The fifth edition of the International Mining Conference will take place from 13 to 15 January 2026 in Riyadh, under the theme “Minerals… Confronting Challenges for a New Era of Development”, and under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The Minister of Minerals expressed his appreciation for the invitation, affirming the distinguished relations between the two countries, especially as Sudan has a coastline extending more than 700 kilometres and diverse mineral resources that qualify it as a promising destination for investment in the mining sector.
He also noted that Sudan has geological and technical expertise, as well as capable human resources, enabling the optimal exploitation of its mineral wealth.
The minister called on Saudi companies to invest in Sudan’s mining sector, emphasising that the Kingdom is one of the leading countries in mining technology and its development.
For his part, the Saudi ambassador stressed the depth and strength of the historic relations linking Sudan and Saudi Arabia, noting the importance of the conference, which serves as a major forum bringing together leading global mining companies and international expertise in this vital sector.
The International Mining Conference is an annual global gathering that brings together government leaders, industry stakeholders, and experts to discuss the future of the mining sector, explore investment opportunities, strengthen mineral value chains, and address sustainability issues.
