The Ambassador of Kuwait to Sudan, His Excellency Dr. Fahad Al-Dhafiri, expressed his happiness and pride that Kuwait Airways is the first foreign and international airline to land at Khartoum International Airport since it resumed operations. He noted that Kuwait was also among the first countries to initiate air and sea bridges to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Sudan, carrying thousands of tons of various supplies to support those affected and alleviate the impact of the humanitarian crisis.

Ambassador Al-Dhafiri announced in a press statement on Tuesday that the first Kuwait Airways flight had successfully arrived at Khartoum International Airport, becoming the first international flight to land at the airport since the outbreak of the war in April 2023. The flight carried approximately 292 Sudanese citizens returning to their homeland as part of voluntary return programs supervised by the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, whose role has had a positive impact on facilitating this return.

The Kuwaiti Ambassador to Sudan added that this move comes as an extension of Kuwait’s consistent and supportive stance toward Sudan and its people, reaffirming Kuwait’s commitment to standing alongside the Sudanese people and its full support for Sudan’s security, stability, and unity.

Ambassador Al-Dhafiri thanked all parties that contributed to making this flight possible and ensuring its arrival at Khartoum Airport, foremost among them Kuwait Airways and the civil aviation authorities in both countries. He also highly praised the Sudanese community in Kuwait, noting that it enjoys significant appreciation and care, and has historically represented a positive model of the strong fraternal relations and deep ties between the two countries.

The ambassador expressed his hope to see Kuwait Airways, symbolized by its blue bird, resume regular flights to Khartoum International Airport in the near future.
