Joint Forces Spokesperson: We Do Not Rule Out Militia Attack on Al-Fashir

Al-Fashir – Sudanhorizon – Mariam Abashar
The official spokesman for the Joint Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Hussein Mustafa, has said that the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia, after their defeat in Khartoum, have resorted to artillery fire on Al Fashir from outskirts of the city to cover up their defeat.
Lt Colonel Mustafa pointed out to occasional skirmishes between the armed forces, the joint forces, and the security services, on the one hand, and the militia forces, on the other. He did not rule out the possibility that the militia might repeat attempts to attack Al Fashir, but he stressed that their forces stand ready to repulse them.
The spokesperson added in a statement to Sudanhorizon news website that elements of the remnants of the militia are attempting to infiltrate some of the city’s eastern outskirts. He said some militia elements try to sneak into the town cloaked in women’s clothing.
Lt Colonel Mustafa did not rule out the possibility that the collapsed militia would carry out its threats to attack the city of Al-Fashir and the Zamzam IDPs camp, but he confirmed, at the same time, that the armed forces, the joint forces, and other units are ready to confront any adventure undertaken by the militia.
