The Joint Force has affirmed that the rights of the victims in the city of El Fasher will not lapse with the passage of time. It emphasized the necessity of achieving justice, revealing the truth, and holding those responsible for crimes and abuses committed against civilians accountable—free from any political bargaining or extraneous considerations.
In a statement issued on Monday to mark the anniversary of the martyrs of El Fasher, the official spokesperson for the Joint Force, Major Mutawakil Ali Wakil, stated that the Joint Force—alongside the Armed Forces and the Popular Resistance—engaged in a resilient defense lasting over 500 days. This took place under extremely complex field and humanitarian conditions, during which significant sacrifices were made to defend civilians and protect the city against attacks and a prolonged siege.
The statement added that the commemoration of the martyrs honors the lives of the innocent civilians and fighters who sacrificed themselves to defend the city, the dignity of its people, and their fundamental right to life, security, and freedom. It further affirmed that the suffering and abuses witnessed in El Fasher will remain etched in the national memory. The Joint Force reaffirmed its commitment to its national responsibilities regarding the protection of civilians and the preservation of their dignity. It pledged to stand with those affected and the displaced, and to work toward creating safe conditions for citizens to return to their homes and for normal life to be restored in El Fasher and all other affected areas. The force emphasized that El Fasher is not merely a city, but a symbol of resilience and national sacrifice. It further noted that restoring security and stability to the city, securing justice for its victims, and ensuring that the tragedies witnessed there are never repeated are essential national and humanitarian imperatives that cannot be overlooked.
In its statement, the Joint Force underscored its steadfast commitment to the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan. It affirmed its continued dedication to its national duty—defending civilians and the rights of citizens—with the ultimate goal of achieving a nation defined by freedom, justice, and dignity, where all Sudanese people can live in security and peace
