The military commanders and leaders of Darfur Armed Movements have expressed satisfaction at the army and its allies’ ability to liberate the city of Bara in North Kordofan from the grip of the Rapid Support Forces militia after months of occupation.
In a Facebook post, the leader of the Sudan Liberation Movement, Minni Arko Minawi, who oversees the joint force, described Thursday’s achievement in Bara as “a victory for all of Sudan and evidence that the steadfastness of our people and their determination to protect their land and honor cannot be broken.”
Minawi praised the joint force, the army, and the popular resistance, saying they had defeated the enemy.
He also sent his greetings to the people of Bara, who, he said, “stood like a mountain in the face of aggression.”
He considered these victories a foretell of imminent salvation, and that El Fasher, Darfur, and all of Sudan will return safe and secure.
For his part, the head of the Justice and Equality Movement, Gibril Ibrahim, stated that Bara had been cleansed of the filth of the rebellion after fierce battles in which “the Sudanese people broke the back of the militia, leaving behind remnants dead and wounded, and destroyed equipment
He reaffirmed the continuation of the advance with unwavering determination and an indomitable will until the promise of the comprehensive liberation of El Fasher and beyond is fulfilled.
For his part, Abdul Rahman Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Solution and Contract of the Ansar Affairs Authority, congratulated the Sudanese people on the complete liberation of Bara. He stated that the victory was achieved after fierce battles, and that “our valiant forces, the supporting forces, and the mobilized forces were able to break the back of the enemy.”
