Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
The Union of Industrial Chambers has called for the restoration of electricity to industrial areas and the rehabilitation of what was destroyed by the war in distribution stations and transformers in the industrial sector.
The President of the Sudanese Employers’ Union and head of the Industrial Chamber, Moaawia Mohamed Ahmed Al-Bireir, discussed the issue of electricity in industrial zones with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy, Dr. Mohy El-Din Naim, during a meeting at the ministry’s headquarters in Port Sudan.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy, Dr. Mohy El-Din Naim, affirmed the ministry’s commitment to reestablishing fair electrical distribution for industrial areas, particularly in Soba, Al-Baqir, and Kilo 10, as part of the reconstruction of Khartoum State.
He stated that the ministry is working in full harmony with the Employers’ Union to ensure the industrial sector returns to its former status, while aspiring for even greater development in this vital and important sector.
For his part, the President of the Sudanese Employers’ Union and head of the Industrial Chamber, Moaawia Mohamed Ahmed Al-Bireir, said:
“We requested from the Undersecretary, through the outlined reconstruction plan, to expedite supplying industrial areas with electricity, as they attract labor and contribute to stability.”
He stressed that Khartoum is the industrial hub of Sudan, but this does not prevent the distribution of industries to other states by establishing industrial zones there. Indeed, a number of businesspeople have continued their activities in several states, including Al-Gadarif, River Nile, and Al-Jazira.
