Finance Minister Pledges to Complete Port Sudan Emergency Center

Sudanese Finance Minister Dr. Jibril Ibrahim has pledged to complete the new Emergency and Accident Center at Port Sudan Teaching Hospital, an initiative launched by the Governor of the Red Sea State.
During his inspection visit to the center on Monday, the Minister affirmed that it will serve as a leading center for emergency medicine in Sudan, in addition to its role as a training center for young professionals wishing to specialize in emergency medicine.
Jibril praised the level of achievement and commended the efforts made and the meticulous arrangements in equipping the center, emphasizing that the completion rate is high and only some final touches remain.
The Finance Minister described the ongoing work as a positive step led by the Governor of the Red Sea State, affirming that the Federal Ministry of Finance will support any entity initiating vital projects until they are completed and achieve their objectives.
He also praised the integration of governmental and community efforts in completing the center, saying, “What I have witnessed is a source of pride. There has been significant community and public work, and the state government has played a commendable role. We will also do our part in the federal government to complete the project, God willing.”
For his part, the Governor of the Red Sea State, Lieutenant General Mustafa Mohamed Nour, expressed his appreciation for the Minister of Finance’s visit and inspection of the Trauma and Emergency Center. He commended the collaborative efforts that contributed to its establishment, including those of the World Health Organization, the Federal Ministry of Health, the Ports Authority, Customs, and the community initiatives of the state’s residents.
The Governor affirmed that the center represents an advanced model that will bring about a qualitative leap in medical services. It is expected to become one of the largest specialized emergency centers in Sudan, serving citizens of all states. He noted that there are some minor challenges that are being addressed, and reiterated the state government’s commitment to coordinating with the Federal Ministries of Finance and Health to overcome obstacles and complete this vital project.
