Khartoum State Environment Council Discusses Cooperation with “International Solidarity” Organization

The Secretary-General of the Higher Council for Environment and Urban and Rural Development in Khartoum State, Ghada Hussein Al-Awad, met on Wednesday at her office in the Al-Taif district of Khartoum with Sajit Menon, Country Programs Director for the International Solidarity organization, to discuss avenues of joint cooperation on environmental projects.

The meeting discussed opportunities for financing and attracting partners and donors to support environmental projects in the state, in addition to benefiting from the experiences of other countries, technology, and universities concerned with environmental issues, particularly in the field of waste collection methods.

The Secretary-General reviewed the council’s projects related to the environment, sanitation, laboratories, the green belt initiative, media, training, awareness programs, and efforts to prepare the environment for voluntary return programs.

For his part, the Country Programs Director pledged support for the council’s ongoing projects and promised to seek funding for the proposed environmental initiatives.
