Heads of European Union missions have commended Sudan’s outgoing Ambassador to Cairo, Lieutenant General Imad al-Din Mustafa Adawi, for his role in organizing the EU delegation’s visit to Khartoum. During that visit, the delegation met with the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and several senior officials.

In a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) account today (Monday), the EU mission stated that EU heads of mission met with Lt. Gen. Imad al-Din Adawi—Sudan’s ambassador to Egypt and the Arab League—as his tenure concluded. Ambassador Wolfram Vetter, the EU Ambassador and head of the delegation that visited Khartoum last July (the first such visit since the war began in April 2023), praised Ambassador Adawi’s role in facilitating visits to Sudan, while Adawi briefed the missions on the latest developments in the Sudan.

A high-level delegation comprising approximately 14 European diplomats had visited Sudan for two days, holding a series of meetings with national officials. These included the Chairman of the Sovereign Council, his deputy, the Prime Minister, and other officials responsible for humanitarian, security, and political affairs.
