Ethiopian Airlines Launches its First Flight from Port Sudan

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon

The Sudan Airports Company Limited welcomed Ethiopian Airlines’ first flight since the outbreak of war in Sudan more than a year ago.

The company said in a statement seen by the Sudanhorizon news website: “The Sudan Airports Company Limited welcomes Ethiopian Airlines at Port Sudan International Airport, which started its flights starting today, on Tuesday, with a daily flight from Addis Ababa to Port Sudan.”

Ethiopian Airlines is the second company to resume its work after Egyptian Airlines since the outbreak of war in Sudan in mid-April of last year when airlines stopped working.

On July 24, the Civil Aviation Authority announced the efforts it had made since it succeeded in issuing a decision to open the airspace of eastern Sudan at the end of the same month. This followed the success of the meeting of the joint committee between ICAO, the Middle East Regional Office, and the Sudanese Civil Aviation Authority in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, during which it was decided to issue a bulletin to open the airspace on July 28.
