Erdogan Expresses Willingness to Mediate Between Sudan and the UAE; Burhan Welcomes the Initiative

General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, received a phone call on Friday from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. During the call, Erdogan reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to Sudan’s unity and stability, reiterating Ankara’s support for the Sudanese people through all available means.
According to a statement from the Transitional Sovereignty Council’s media office, President Erdogan emphasised Turkey’s ongoing humanitarian assistance to Sudan and announced the imminent resumption of Turkish Airlines operations in the country. He also expressed Turkey’s readiness to strengthen diplomatic ties and cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the fields of agriculture and mining.
President Erdogan further conveyed his country’s willingness to mediate between Sudan and the United Arab Emirates to foster peace and security in Sudan.
In response, General Burhan praised Turkey’s supportive stance toward Sudan, acknowledging its efforts to promote peace and stability in the region and its effective handling of various issues at both regional and international levels, including its success in addressing the Syrian crisis.
Burhan welcomed any Turkish role aimed at ending the conflict caused by the insurgent Rapid Support Forces (RSF). He also called for increased Turkish investments in various sectors and expressed confidence in President Erdogan and his government’s steadfast support for the Sudanese people and their aspirations.
