Ministry of Finance : Support for Various Projects of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries

During a coordination meeting with the Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri, at the Ministry headquarters on Thursday, Finance Minister Dr. Jibril Ibrahim affirmed the government’s commitment to building investment partnerships and attracting external funding for the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries’ projects. The focus will be on livestock production cities geared towards export, as well as on improving the health of the national herd, thereby boosting the country’s exports of livestock products.
The meeting also discussed opportunities for Sudan to benefit from its tuna quota in the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean, a quota determined by the International Tuna Commission. It was agreed to offer this quota in a formal tender to maximize its returns, following the establishment of the necessary legal framework and legislation to ensure Sudan’s desired benefit.
The meeting also reviewed the Ministry of Livestock’s urgent projects in the areas of rehabilitating laboratories and quarantine facilities, and dairy production projects. Support for these projects was agreed upon, in accordance with the Ministry of Livestock’s established priorities.
The Minister of Finance, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, affirmed the government’s commitment to building investment partnerships and attracting external funding for the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries’ projects. The Ministry of Finance pledged to work towards paying the membership dues of international animal health organizations of which Sudan is a member, in order to maximize Sudan’s benefit from the services provided by these organizations. Emphasis was also placed on developing solutions to boost production processes for self-sufficiency and exports.
It is worth noting that the meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries, as well as directors of relevant departments and legal departments from both ministries.
