Doctors: RSF Kill 12 Civilians North of Bara on Pretext of Being SAF Affiliation
Bara – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese Doctors Network on Wednesday said 12 civilians, including women, were killed and three others were injured by the Rapid Support Forces militia in the Sharim Mima area, north of Bara city in North Kordofan State.
In a statement, the network reported that the civilians were killed after being accused of affiliation to the SAF.
It emphasized that targeting unarmed civilians constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and norms.
The statement added, “This reflects a dangerous escalation in the pace of violence against innocent civilians.”
It emphasized that the repeated violations committed by the RSF against civilians in areas under their control demonstrate a complete lack of commitment to protecting lives and property, and place the international community, which has become a mere spectator, before its moral and legal responsibilities to stop these crimes.
The network warned of the serious humanitarian repercussions of such attacks, which are forcing more citizens to flee and exacerbating the already dire humanitarian situation.
The statement held the Rapid Support Forces fully responsible for this crime and called on the international community to pressure its leaders to hold those responsible for these violations accountable.
The Sudanese Doctors Network also called for the immediate protection of civilians and the opening of safe corridors for the remaining residents inside the villages of Bara.
