Coptic Volunteer Praises Army’s Professional Conduct

A Sudanese citizen belonging to the Coptic Christian community, who joined the Popular Resistance in Omdurman, described the ongoing war in Sudan as an existential war for the Sudanese people in all their components, and a full-fledged war of dignity.

The volunteer fighting alongside the Sudanese Armed Forces, Girgis Rohi, said in a statement to Sudanhorizon news website that young people joined the Popular Resistance out of a sense of national duty to protect the homeland from any threats. He noted that they fought the fiercest battles alongside the army, shoulder to shoulder, until Khartoum was liberated, offering their lives so that the capital could return to the embrace of the nation.

Girgis confirmed that army leadership dealt with the youth who joined the training camps with professionalism, integrity, and responsibility, harnessing their capabilities through advanced training and institutional organization, until they bore arms and defended their land. He added that they remain in the field under the command and direction of the army.

He pointed out that the prevailing sense of security across Khartoum State is the result of the youth’s early response to the call of the nation. He rejected describing the conflict as a war between two armies, stressing that it was a war imposed on the people and their army, and that the Rapid Support Forces militias were backed by external funding from several countries, alongside mercenaries whom, he said, “we saw with our own eyes.”

Girgis Rohi also expressed his complete satisfaction with the national spirit demonstrated by the Sudanese people, each according to their capacity. Some supported the War of Dignity by standing with citizens, assisting families, and funding community kitchens; others fought through new media platforms and social networks; while others rushed to training camps to take up arms and participate directly in combat.
