Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
The President of the Transitional Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), Lit. Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, received a phone call on Monday from the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Tom Fletcher.
In the call, the two officials discussed humanitarian issues and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Al Fashir.
The call addressed the possibility of delivering aid to Al Fashir while avoiding obstacles to humanitarian convoys from the terrorist rebel Rapid Support Forces militia or other groups.
The two sides have emphasized the need to deliver aid quickly via roads that facilitate the passage of humanitarian convoys to Al Fashir.
The United Nations requested the establishment of logistical supply bases around Al Fashir to facilitate humanitarian work, particularly in the areas of Mellit and Tawila.
The Government of Sudan agreed to this.
