Armed Forces Spokesperson: The Guardian Report is Misleading, Lacks Transparency, and is a Desperate Attempt to Tarnish the Image of the Sudanese Army

Brigadier General Nabil Abdullah, the official spokesperson for the armed forces, described the report published by the British newspaper The Guardian on its website, attributing specific actions to soldiers of the armed forces, as “completely lacking in transparency and impartiality, and a desperate attempt to tarnish the reputation of the armed forces, which the Sudanese people have always known to be loyal to its citizens and protectors of their honour, land, and dignity.”
In an exclusive statement to the “Sudanhorizon” website, Brigadier General Nabil stated that the newspaper did not follow any professional standard to ensure the transparency and balance of its report and that it appears to have ulterior motives.
Brigadier General Nabil added that the report issued by The Guardian on its official website contained blatant falsehoods and fabrications against members of the armed forces in Omdurman.
He noted that the newspaper’s correspondent entirely avoided contacting any members of the armed forces to present what she claimed to have obtained from stories of women who allegedly faced violations. Moreover, the correspondent did not seek an official permit from the authorities to work in the area, which further raises doubts about the motives behind the report and suggests that the journalist’s mission might be hiding an agenda to serve parties that deliberately and diligently work to tarnish the image of the Sudanese armed forces.
Brigadier General Nabil concluded his statement by asserting that the most compelling evidence to refute such fabricated accusations is that ordinary people flee from any area entered by the Rapid Support Forces militia and seek refuge in areas where the armed forces are present, as they feel safe regarding their lives, properties, and honour.
