Al-Burhan Receives Sudan Football Association Delegation, Discusses Sports Infrastructure and Role of Sports in Stability

A delegation from the Sudan Football Association, led by its president, Dr. Moatasim Jaafar, met on Tuesday in Khartoum with the Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.
The discussions focused on the need to support the national football teams, develop sports infrastructure, and create conditions that would allow the organization of matches and competitions among clubs. The meeting also addressed the role of sports in promoting stability.
Speaking to the press following the meeting, Dr. Moatasim Jaafar said the discussions highlighted the significant contribution sports can make to supporting the voluntary return of citizens to their home areas.
He emphasized the role of athletes in promoting security and stability in Khartoum State, noting that such efforts send positive signals both domestically and internationally and reflect the state’s commitment to youth and sports, particularly football.
Jaafar stated that Al-Burhan pledged to help remove obstacles facing Sudan’s sports sector and to support the creation of a suitable and secure environment for national team training camps.
According to Jaafar, the Sovereignty Council chairman also promised support for the rehabilitation of six stadiums across Sudan, with the aim of completing the work during the 2026–2027 sports season.
He added that Al-Burhan reaffirmed his commitment to maximizing the use of sports facilities and infrastructure that enable young people to participate in various sporting activities.
Jaafar further noted the contributions made by Sudanese youth during what he referred to as the “Battle of Dignity” and praised the efforts of the Sudan Football Association in supporting and assisting the Sudanese Armed Forces.
