Al-Burhan Leads Sudanese Delegation Participating in Climate Summit

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, leads the Sudanese delegation participating in the Climate Summit hosted by the Azerbaijani capital, Baku.
Al-Burhan arrived today on Tuesday, in the city of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali Youssef, to participate in the activities of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). Which is hosted by the city of Baku, under the slogan “In Solidarity for a Green World”.
Al-Burhan met with both the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, and the President of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev.
The Sudanese delegation participating in the Climate Summit includes an elite group of experts and those interested in the field of environment and climate studies.
The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council will address the Presidents’ Summit, which will be attended by many heads of state and government, representatives of regional and international organizations and institutions working in the fields of environment and climate, in addition to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.
Sudan will present working papers prepared by several Sudanese experts interested in the environment and climate change, and the Sudanese delegation will participate in the high-level roundtable on transforming ambition into action and expanding the scope of adaptation financing to achieve the global goal of the necessary measures to confront the phenomenon of climate change.
It is worth noting that the previous climate summit was hosted by the United Arab Emirates, which is expected to participate with a high-level delegation in the current summit.
