Al-Burhan and El-Sisi Discuss Bilateral Relations and Ways to Strengthen Them

Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council Chairman, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, held a bilateral meeting on Sunday with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on the sidelines of the consultative summit bringing together the leaders of Sudan, Egypt, Eritrea, and Somalia in the city of El Alamein.

The meeting reviewed the course of bilateral relations between Sudan and Egypt and ways to strengthen, develop, and expand them, in addition to developments in Sudan and a number of regional and international issues of common interest, as well as coordination between the two countries in a manner that serves the shared interests of the two brotherly peoples.

According to a press statement issued by the media office of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Al-Burhan expressed his deep appreciation for the positions of the Egyptian leadership in support of Sudan, its unity, stability, and sovereignty.

For his part, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s support for Sudan’s territorial integrity and the unity of its institutions, as well as its continued provision of support to the Sudanese people in various fields.

The Egyptian president also renewed his country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation frameworks in a manner that serves the common interests and meets the aspirations of the Sudanese and Egyptian peoples for development and prosperity.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Mohieddin Salem, Director General of the General Intelligence Service General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, Director of the Office of the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council Major General Tarek Saud, and Sudan’s Chargé d’Affaires in Egypt Ambassador Omar Al-Farouq.
