Al-Burhan arrives in Angola and holds talks with President João Lourenço

General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, arrived today (Monday) in the Angolan capital, Luanda, on an official visit in response to an invitation from his counterpart João Lourenço.
An official reception ceremony was held for the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council at the presidential palace in Luanda.
The two sides entered into joint official talks that touched on relations between Sudan and Angola and ways to reinforce and develop them for the benefit of the two countries’ peoples, according to a circular published by the Transitional Sovereignty Council Media.
The two sides affirmed their desire to enhance prospects for joint cooperation in various fields.
During his meeting with the Angolan President, the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council provided a detailed explanation of the current situation in Sudan against the backdrop of the rebellion led by the terrorist Militia (RSF) against the state and its institutions, stressing the government’s engagement with all proposed peace initiatives, out of its belief in the importance of peace and stability.
Pointing to what was signed in an agreement in Jeddah and the failure of the rebel Militia RSF to implement its outcomes.
For his part, the Angolan President thanked the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council for accepting the invitation to visit Angola, noting the solid relations between the two countries.
It is noteworthy that the meeting was attended by the Director of the General Intelligence Service, Gen. Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal.
