Foundation Stone Laid for Geological Museum and Reference Laboratory Complex in Northern State

The Northern State on Wednesday witnessed the ceremony for laying the foundation stone of the Geological Museum and the Reference Laboratory Complex, in the presence of the Minister of Minerals, Mr. Nour Al-Daim Taha; the Minister of Infrastructure and Urban Planning; the Minister of Finance; and the Director General of the Geological Research Authority, Geological Consultant Ahmed Haroun Al-Tom, along with ministry leaders, companies, and affiliated bodies.

The Minister of Minerals affirmed that these projects are among the most strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening the capabilities of the mining sector and supporting the state’s scientific infrastructure, noting that Northern State is rich in diverse and valuable mineral resources. He added: “The years 2026 and 2027 will witness major focus on strategic minerals, which have become priorities for the entire world.”

The minister praised the significant efforts of the Geological Research Authority, stressing that it serves as the backbone of the Ministry of Minerals, and that all affiliated institutions—Sudamin Company and the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company—base their work on the authority’s technical and scientific role in identifying resources and completing geological surveys.

He added: “We are pleased to announce that completing geological surveys will be one of the top priorities in the upcoming stage, so that Sudan’s states can showcase their strength in mineral wealth as required,” affirming the ministry’s commitment to supporting the Geological Museum and the Reference Laboratory until they are completed according to the highest standards.
