The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, pledged to support the Customs Forces by providing all necessary resources and assistance to strengthen their regulatory role in protecting the economy and society.

On Wednesday, the minister inspected a major seizure of smuggled drugs, weapons, and Thuraya satellite phones, which was carried out by the Anti-Smuggling Administration of the Customs Forces in the Red Sea State, in coordination with the General Intelligence Service.

The Anti-Smuggling Administration intercepted a criminal network in the open sea on a boat carrying 400 kilograms of crystal meth, 2 kilograms of heroin, two Kalashnikov rifles, 188 rounds of ammunition, and a Thuraya communication device.

During his field visit to the Anti-Smuggling headquarters in the “Transit” neighborhood in Port Sudan, the minister praised the efforts of the Customs Forces in protecting the economy and safeguarding society from the dangers of drug and weapons smuggling, along with the resulting security and health threats to youth and families, as well as the negative impact on the national economy and the waste of resources. He described drug trafficking as a persistent challenge that requires cooperation among nations to combat.
