CAF Approves Participation of Sudan’s Top Clubs in the Rwandan League

The Rwandan Football Federation announced on Wednesday that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved the participation of Sudan’s top clubs, Al-Hilal and Al-Merrikh, in the Rwandan Premier League.

According to a post on the federation’s official page, the CAF Executive Committee, in its meeting held today (Wednesday), formally approved the participation of Al-Merrikh and Al-Hilal in the 2025/2026 Rwandan Premier League season.

The Sudanese Football Association had previously allowed Al-Hilal and Al-Merrikh to join the Rwandan league as guest clubs, while remaining scheduled to participate in the Sudanese Premier League set to begin in the first week of next January.

The two Sudanese giants have been in Kigali, the Rwandan capital, for the past three weeks awaiting the league fixtures from the Rwandan federation.
