Doctors: 243 Pregnant Women Arrive at Displacement Camps in Ad-Dabba and Tawila

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese Doctors Network on Tuesday reported that it has documented the arrival of at least 243 pregnant women from El Fasher to the Tawila camp, North Darfur State, and the Ad-Dabba camp, Northern State.

In a statement, the network said its teams monitored the arrival of 100 pregnant women at the Tawila camp and surrounding camps, while 143 pregnant women arrived at the Ad-Dabba camp.

One birth case has been recorded within the camp so far, in addition to births within the Tawila camp and miscarriages occurring during the displacement from El Fasher because of the harsh conditions on the way up to the camps.

The network indicated that monitoring operations are ongoing as the displacement continues.

The Sudanese Doctors Network confirmed that several health organizations working in the field are providing emergency medical care to pregnant women, amidst increasing challenges for those suffering abortions due to the long-distance walked and the lack of resources.

The network called on international and humanitarian organizations to provide urgent support and enhance health and medical services in those areas. It also called on the responsible authorities to ensure the protection of mothers and provision of safe environment for childbirth, and to reduce the health risks that threaten displaced women and girls under the current circumstances.
