The Ethiopian-born racer who runs for the Netherlands (Sifan Hassan, 31 years old) achieved this morning (Sunday) an honorable victory in the Paris JO-2024 Marathon and managed to break the Olympic record in a street race in the French capital Paris, which lasted more than two hours (2:22:55) to win the Olympic medal in a breathtaking finish against Ethiopia’s Tigiste Assefa, three seconds behind.
Kenya’s Helen Obiri finished third with 15 seconds taking the bronze completing the podium. Sifan had already won bronze in the 5,000 on Monday and 10,000 on Friday. By simply completing the marathon, she ran more than 62 kilometers. She now has six Olympic medals. In Tokyo, Hassan won the 5,000 and 10,000 and finished third in the 1,500.
