RSF Militia’s Wall Cracks Further as More Leaders Jump Off

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon – Telal Ismail

Several figures from the Advisory Council of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced their defection from the militia in Port Sudan, the capital of the Red Sea State, disavowing the actions of rebel leader Abdul Rahim Dagalo and his partners from certain political factions. They condemned the formation of a parallel government in Nairobi and the signing of secret agreements with regional and international parties under the RSF’s name, describing these moves as a concerted effort to destroy Sudan.

In a press conference held on Sunday in Port Sudan, the Sudanese government welcomed the arrival of several defecting RSF figures:

– Madbo Ibrahim Babji, Head of the Governance and Administration Department in the RSF Advisory Council and Founding Secretary-General of Civil Administrations in RSF-controlled areas

– Sheikh Mohamed Ahmed Alish, Head of the Legal Department in the Council and Chair of the Qimam Alliance/Khartoum State

– Abdel Azim Salim Mohamed Ali, Council member and Head of Legal Affairs for the Qimam Alliance

– Abbas Mohamed Abdel Baqi, Council member and Political Advisor for East Nile Locality

– Babiker Khalifa Mohamed, Council member and Political Advisor

The Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Khalid Al-Iyeser, urged the defectors to intensify their efforts in raising awareness among communities in Darfur and Kordofan, especially those misled by RSF propaganda.

During the ministry’s weekly briefing, held by the Sudan News Agency in Port Sudan, the minister emphasized that the RSF had deceived many communities, falsely promoting the idea of a “1956 State” as part of a narrative aimed at manipulating the public.

Al-Iyeser reaffirmed the government’s welcome to the defectors, noting that the ministry is committed to working with them to enlighten the people of Darfur and Kordofan. He emphasized that the door to repentance remains open, stating that this is not the first group to realize the severity of RSF’s actions and defect to rejoin the national fold. He asserted that such steps would help awaken the misled population.

He also praised the role of independent patriotic voices in the media, saying that the ministry will, under the Government of Hope, continue supporting free and national journalism.

Al-Iyeser acknowledged the limited financial resources during his term so far but expressed optimism that the new government will remove barriers and empower the ministry to be a platform for genuine national efforts.

Madbo Ibrahim Babji, Head of Governance and Administration in the RSF Advisory Council and former Secretary-General of Civil Administrations in RSF-controlled areas, stated that the Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) were the ones who fired the first shot of the war. He labeled them mercenaries, claiming they served foreign agendas aiming to fragment Sudan and destroy its unity.

Abdel Azim Salim, a defector and legal advisor, accused the RSF of systematically eliminating and extorting civilians, referencing widespread killings and destruction in Khartoum, Al-Jazirah, and other areas under RSF control. He cited the Sudanese proverb: “If you want to kill someone, destroy them.”

Statement of Defection from RSF Leaders

In a formal statement, a group of RSF Advisory Council members announced their complete and final defection from the RSF:

“We speak to you today as we free ourselves from the cloak of lies and deception that was falsely worn in the name of the nation. We lay bare before you the unfiltered truth—one we can no longer remain silent about.

We declare our complete and final break from the so-called Rapid Support Forces after reaching the undeniable conclusion that this militia has crossed all national and moral boundaries. It has become a tool for the destruction of Sudan, the tearing of its social fabric, and the violation of its people’s dignity.

The statement continued:

“We were present, witnesses to many decisions and policies crafted by the militia and its political partners—policies that clearly aimed at the destruction of Sudan, the displacement of its people, the erasure of its identity and history, and the looting of its resources.

The RSF employed every means to target the Sudanese people, including intimidation, abductions, enforced disappearances, and the involvement of foreign military elements—mercenaries and trainers—to instruct in drone warfare and combat techniques, all with direct backing from foreign actors who wish Sudan harm.”

The statement stressed that the RSF has completely lost its moral compass, transforming from a paramilitary entity into a brutal arm of repression, committing heinous violations without conscience or accountability.

The defectors declared their full alignment with national unity efforts and their intention to appeal to the African Union and the international community to halt indirect support to the RSF and to expose attempts to legitimize the group.

“This moment is one of conscience and responsibility. We know the road ahead is not easy, but we have chosen it of our own free will, because we believe that the nation is greater than individuals, nobler than narrow interests, and more enduring than any militia.”
