The Gambia Reaffirms Its Commitment to Supporting Peace Efforts in Sudan

The Gambia has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting peace efforts in Sudan and expressed its readiness to assist the Sudanese government in restoring stability to Sudan and the region.
This was highlighted during a meeting between Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, Director of the General Intelligence Service, and Gambian President Adama Barrow in the capital, Banjul. The meeting occurred during Lieutenant General Mufaddal’s participation in The Gambia’s National Day celebrations, following an invitation from the Director of Gambian Intelligence.
Lieutenant General Mufaddal conveyed the greetings of the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, to President Barrow, along with his wishes for progress and prosperity for The Gambia and its people. He also extended warm congratulations on The Gambia’s National Day.
During the meeting, Lieutenant General Mufaddal briefed President Barrow on the latest developments in Sudan. He shed light on the violations committed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia against civilians, with support from some regional countries. He also emphasised the negative repercussions of these events on regional and international stability.
Furthermore, he underscored Sudan’s determination to achieve peace, restore stability, and rebuild what has been destroyed.
