Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on Tuesday issued a statement condemning what it described as “the individual violations that recently occurred in some areas of Gezira State after the cleansing of Madani city.”
The statement issued by SAF official spokesperson said that the army would “reaffirm at the same time its strict adherence to international conventions and its keenness to hold accountable anyone involved in any violations that affect any person in Kanabi and the villages in Gezira, in accordance with due process of law.”
The statement stressed that the General Command of the Armed Forces has been closely monitoring “the security situation in the region in coordination with the Gezira State Security Committee, in order to secure all areas and thwart the opportunity for the parties lurking in the country that are trying to exploit any individual violations and pin them on SAF and the forces supporting it, at the same time they keep mum regarding the ongoing and horrific war crimes committed by the terrorist Al-Dagalo militia against civilians.”
Videos broadcast over the past two days showed individuals believed to be part of groups supporting SAF in their war against the Rapid Support Militia, shooting at citizens of Kambo Taiba village area, Gezira State, central Sudan, sparking widespread anger, protests and condemnation.
