Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

The Minister of Energy and Petroleum affirmed that the ministry had overcome the previous technical faults, resulting in a noticeable improvement in the electricity sector. He made the remarks during a meeting at his office on Monday with Sennar State Governor Major General (Ret.) Al-Zubair Hassan Al-Sayed.

The meeting discussed ongoing efforts by electricity sector workers to stabilize power supplies across the state. The minister attributed the electricity problems in Sennar State to drone attacks targeting power stations, explaining that remedial efforts were currently underway through the manufacturing of power transformers for substations. He noted that the manufacturing process had made significant progress and that the transformers were expected to arrive soon, given the time required for production.

The minister affirmed the ministry’s commitment to providing energy from alternative sources to support the success of the winter and summer agricultural seasons. He called on the state government to provide the ministry with details of all proposed projects relying on solar energy so that coordination could take place with relevant authorities to provide the necessary guarantees in accordance with the new Electricity Law.

For his part, the Governor of Sennar State commended the efforts of the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, noting that the main challenges facing the state included the need for a transformer for the Sennar station, the maintenance of approximately 100 distribution transformers, and the rehabilitation of fuel storage facilities in the state.
