Finance Ministry and CBoS Participate in Annual Infrastructure Investment Meeting in Doha

Minister of Finance Dr. Gibril Ibrahim and Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan Dr. Sami Abdel Hafiz participated in the 11th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), held in the Qatari capital Doha on September 28 and 29, with the participation of finance and economy ministers, central bank governors, senior officials, and representatives of financial and development institutions from member states.
The participation comes as part of Sudan’s efforts to strengthen its presence in international economic and financial forums, expand cooperation with financial and development institutions, and place recovery and reconstruction priorities on the agenda of international development partnerships and financing, in a manner that supports the restoration of economic activity and paves the way for a new phase of growth and investment.
Amid the pivotal phase Sudan is currently experiencing, the government is focusing on transitioning from the repercussions of the war to recovery and reconstruction, restoring basic services, rehabilitating infrastructure, and revitalizing productive sectors.
In this context, the Sudanese delegation is presenting the priorities of the next phase, particularly in the energy, water, transport, digital infrastructure, and agriculture sectors, as well as supporting the private sector and creating a favorable environment for investment.
The meeting provides an opportunity to discuss areas of cooperation with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, present national projects and priorities, and explore appropriate financing instruments for projects with developmental impact, in addition to benefiting from international expertise in infrastructure development and mobilizing long-term investment. The participation also includes discussions with the leaders of financial and development institutions and participating officials to explore opportunities for cooperation, expand partnerships, and strengthen private-sector participation in reconstruction, investment, and production.
