Sudan’s Foreign Minister to Deliver Sudan’s Address to UN Tomorrow

Senior diplomatic sources told Sudanhorizon news site on Wednesday that Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohieddin Salem, will deliver Sudan’s address to the United Nations General Assembly tomorrow, Thursday, during its 81st session in New York, as scheduled.

The move comes after Sovereignty Council Chairman Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan rejected a U.S. proposal to condition the issuance of his visa on signing a three-month truce agreement, according to Reuters.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres also failed to pressure the U.S. administration to issue an entry visa to the head of a member state of the international organization.

According to Sudanhorizon follow-ups, the Foreign Minister has been participating since Monday in the high-level meetings of the General Assembly, which recently began their proceedings. On the sidelines of the meetings, he has also held intensive talks and meetings with a number of officials from UN agencies and institutions, as well as his counterparts, the foreign ministers of participating countries.
