Sudan Reveals RSF Attempts to Forge Sudanese Currency at International Forum in Turkey

Sudan revealed at an international forum specializing in banknote production and secure documents in Istanbul that the rebel and terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia has attempted to forge Sudanese currency, bringing these practices to the attention of experts and representatives of monetary and security institutions from around the world.

Head of the Sudanese delegation and Director General of the Sudan Currency Printing Press, Engineer Mohammed Abdelrahman, affirmed that the Central Bank of Sudan is the only authority legally authorized to issue Sudanese currency and contract its printing through the Sudan Currency Printing Press.

According to a statement issued by the Central Bank of Sudan on Saturday, the Director of the Sudan Currency Printing Press stressed that any issuance or printing of currency outside this system does not represent the Sudanese state.

The delegation also highlighted the resilience of the Sudan Currency Printing Press throughout the war and its continued operations despite the destruction of its headquarters in Khartoum. It established alternative facilities in three cities and contributed to the production of new currency denominations while securing the government’s needs for protected and secure documents.

The participation aims to expose to the international community the RSF militia’s attempts to tamper with one of the most prominent symbols of state sovereignty, while reaffirming that the issuance of Sudanese currency remains the exclusive responsibility of the country’s official state institutions.
