PM:Freezing Procedures Concerning Nile Poultry Company

The Sudanese Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris has directed the freezing of procedures related to the Nile Poultry Company pending further study and consultation to reach a fair and sustainable solution. This directive prioritizes the public interest and safeguards the rights of all parties, according to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA).

The SUNA report, citing the Prime Minister’s office, added that this action reaffirms the government’s commitment to the rights of citizens resettled due to the construction of the Merowe Dam. It also underscores the government’s dedication to supporting and developing resettlement areas and enhancing their economic and social stability.

According to the directive, the case will be reviewed in consultation with relevant authorities to arrive at a balanced and mutually acceptable solution that protects citizens’ rights, safeguards the project, and ensures its sustainability and development.

Residents of the Amri area in the Northern State began an open-ended sit-in last week in front of the company headquarters, protesting a decision by a ministerial committee to transform the Nile Poultry Company into a partnership between the Northern and River Nile States and the Zadna Company.
