EGYPT and China Call for Peace Realization in Sudan

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping affirmed their categorical rejection of any plans to displace the Palestinian people from their land. They also called for an end to the war in Sudan.

The two presidents held talks Wednesday in Cairo, during which they stressed the need to respect the unity and sovereignty of Sudanese territory, preserve its national institutions, and refrain from interfering in its internal affairs.

They also affirmed their determination to work together to end the war in Sudan and launch a comprehensive, Sudanese-owned political process.

The two presidents reiterated that the Palestinian issue is the central issue in the Middle East and emphasized the importance of reaching a just and lasting settlement based on the two-state solution, guaranteeing the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Both sides called for the Palestinian Authority to return to the Gaza Strip as soon as possible. They also expressed their concern regarding the dangerous Israeli escalation in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, including the increasing settler violence, land confiscation, and settlement construction.

The two presidents stressed the importance of preserving the unity of Palestinian territory, supporting the role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and the necessity of not compromising its mandate.

These positions were expressed within the framework of the two presidents’ affirmation of strengthening political and security coordination between their countries on regional and international issues of common interest.

They also affirmed Egypt and China’s commitment to the principles and purposes of the UN Charter and the principles of international law, and their rejection of double standards and unilateral actions.

The Chinese side commended Egypt’s pivotal role in supporting regional security and stability, its continuous efforts to reach comprehensive political settlements to the geopolitical crises in the Middle East, and its promotion of the principles of good neighborliness, respect for the sovereignty of states, and non-interference in their internal affairs.
