Is the Sudanese Army About to Take Back Madani?

“We are currently inside Tamboul Marketplace, Eastern Gazira State, the stronghold of the forces of Abu Aggla Kaykal of the Rapid Support Forces. This is the historic Ruffaa town, where rebel elements hailing from South Sudan state and Libya  are crisscrossing the area.” This was a statement by the leaders of the Special Forces of the Sudanese Army talking to me while we were inside one of the Coffee zones, Gadarif, but they demanded not to be named.
Meanwhile, another civilian from the South Gezira area was spurring his family members, saying, “Get ready. We are about to return home soon”. This was a second source for
Sudanhorizon.
It seems that the army’s restoration of the town of Madani as the capital of Gezira state is a matter of time. The army has now advanced from the western axis of Managil to the area of Al Shaigab west of Madani town proper, just a few kilometres away.
Last week, the Sudanese Armed Forces intensified their activities in the Manalgil area, doubting the military operations in this axis of all axes, which includes AlKhaiar, which goes up to Gadarif state, and the Sinnar Axis.
But while the ground forces were advancing towards Wad Madani city, warplanes flew over Al-Gazira state to destroy combat vehicles and supplies coming from Khartoum state to the Shayqab area, military sources told (Sudanhorizon).
The sources added, ” We have shifted from defence to attack to restore towns and villages on the western axis of Gazira state. The Sudanese army took control of the areas of Wad Rabia and Madina Arab, reaching Shayqab, the last point of defense for the militia before Wad Madani city. Military operations are going on in the areas of Talha, Mahla, and Beika, in addition to artillery shelling and warplanes flying to provide cover for the advance and to handle any   militia’s targets on the ground.”
In recent months, the Rapid Support Militias have lost some of their most prominent field commander in the military operations axis in Sinnar and Gazira states, most notably Abdel-Rahman Al-Bishi.
One of those transporting supplies to the front lines told (Sudanhorizon), “We have received all the supplies we requested. The military situation is currently much better from the start of the war.”
On February 14, the Sudanese army advanced from several axes to control the city of Wad Madani, but the army’s official spokesman, Brigadier General Nabil Abdullah, confirmed in a press release published on the pages of the Sudanese Armed Forces on social media outlets that “there is no truth to what is being circulated in the media about retaking the city of Madani.”
Brigadier General Nabil’s statement came as reports from multiple sources said that the Sudanese army had taken control of the city of Wad Madani and had begun entering Gazira State from several directions.
It is worth noting that on December 18, the Rapid Support Militia entered the city of Wad Madani and committed horrific human rights violations in several villages in the State, resulting in human massacres and the killing of dozens of civilians.
Last Thursday, a member of the Sovereign Council and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Yasser Al-Atta, said that the military and civilian leadership and the Sudanese people reject any negotiations with the Rapid Support Forces, stressing that the army was now in possession capabilities to crush the RSF militias.
While addressing the Special Support Group, he added, “We hear about negotiations here and there, but the military and civilian leadership and the Sudanese people are demanding the implementation of the slogan (dumping only).” He added, “We now have growing capabilities through which we can implement this glorious slogan.”
