Finance Ministry Pledges Support for Al-Mallaha Agricultural Project

The Sudanese Finance Minister Jibril Ibrahim has pledged to provide all possible assistance to the Al-Mallaha agricultural project in White Nile State, describing it as a vital project for producing strategic crops that will ensure food security in the country and supply neighboring countries.
During his meeting Thursday with the Governor of White Nile State, Lieutenant General (Retired) Qamar al-Din Muhammad Fadl al-Mawla, in the presence of the ministry’s directors general, the minister reiterated the government’s commitment to exempting agricultural machinery from customs duties and fees as an input for agricultural production, and the possibility of extending these exemptions to livelihood projects in the state.
The Finance Minister commended White Nile State’s efforts in implementing the electronic collection and payment system, which reinforces the government’s drive towards digital transformation and public finance reform. For his part, the Governor of White Nile State provided an overview of the state’s efforts in agricultural development and its support for the national endeavors to achieve food security. He noted the state government’s commitment to electronic payment in over 90% of its transactions and highlighted the state’s need for additional equipment to further enhance its successful experience in this area.
The Governor also announced the imminent opening of a referral hospital in the state and outlined the state’s service and development needs in the health, education, and road sectors.
