IGAD Executive Secretary to Arrive in Khartoum Thursday

The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Dr Workneh Gebeyehu, will arrive in Khartoum on Thursday, for a one-day official visit to the Sudan.
Sudanhorizon News website has learned that the guest will hold talks with a number of senior state officials, including the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, regarding the peace process in Sudan and the role the sub-regional organization can play in it.
According to Sudanhorizon’s sources, an advance delegation from IGAD arrived in Port Sudan on Wednesday to oversee preparations for the visit and finalize the details of the program.
Sudanhorizon also reports that the IGAD Executive Secretary is scheduled to hold a press conference at the conclusion of the visit to highlight its outcomes.
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), along with the African Union, the Arab League, the United Nations and the European Union, forms what is known as the “International Quintet” involved in Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue arrangements, in preparation for reviving the political path of transition.
