The Workshop on Boosting Exports: A five-year Strategy for Building a Strong. Sustainable Economy

The Sudanese Ministry of Industry and Trade on Wednesday announced a five-year strategy aimed at building a stronger and sustainable productive economy.
During the launch of the workshop on “Boosting Exports and Import Substitution” in Khartoum, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry, Dr. Awad Salam, stated that his ministry is closely monitoring the economic situation and the challenges it presents. He noted that the workshop is part of the ministry’s efforts to support national production, increase exports, and substitute imports, thereby contributing to economic development.
The Undersecretary emphasized that boosting exports and substituting imports is a strategic option for reducing the foreign currency bill and encouraging local manufacturing. He commended the Sudanese private sector and national investors for their role in the national effort to support the state and contribute to protecting the economy.
He stated that Sudan is rich in resources but that there is a need to revitalize these resources, expressing his hope that the 2026 plan will be the beginning of utilizing all of Sudan’s resources.
The workshop was presented by strategic planning expert, Professor Mohamed Hussein Abu Saleh, with the participation of a number of ministers and relevant government agencies, representatives of the private sector, experts and academics. It aimed to discuss the reality of the industrial and commercial sectors, review opportunities and challenges, and come up with practical visions and recommendations that contribute to developing policies and programs that support national production.
