Sudanese Army Recaptures Bara and Jabrat Al-Sheikh, Inflicts Heavy Losses on RSF

The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and their allies in the Joint Force of the Armed Movements announced on Saturday that they had recaptured the city of Bara and several other strategic locations in North Kordofan State, including Jabrat Al-Sheikh and Umm Sayala, following intense fighting against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Earlier on Saturday, the Ministry of Defence said the SAF and the Joint Forces were advancing on the Bara axis as part of coordinated operations being carried out simultaneously across several fronts against the RSF.
The ministry said the advance towards Bara, alongside operations on the Umm Sayala front and other axes, represents a significant battlefield development in North Kordofan that will strengthen the deployment of the army and supporting forces to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.
It added that the advance coincides with operations on multiple fronts in Kordofan and Darfur, where, according to the ministry, the armed forces have inflicted heavy losses on the RSF in personnel and equipment in line with the General Command’s operational plans.
Darfur Regional Governor Minni Arko Minawi said in a Facebook post that the advances followed what he described as “high-quality and well-planned” military operations. He said the offensive inflicted losses on the RSF, disrupted its movements, and weakened its combat capabilities on the western front.
In a separate statement, the Joint Force announced that it had cleared the areas of Baraka, Umm Sayala, Umm Qarfa, Jabrat Al-Sheikh, and Bara of RSF fighters.
The statement said the RSF had suffered a crushing defeat, with more than 73 heavily armed combat vehicles destroyed, while additional vehicles were captured intact.
It also claimed that large numbers of RSF officers and fighters were killed, describing the operation as “a painful blow that will stand as evidence of the collapse of its criminal project.”
