U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has expressed the United States’ appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in promoting peace, security, and prosperity across the Middle East and Africa.

In a statement issued on Thursday to mark Egypt’s National Day (July 23) and published on the U.S. Department of State’s website, Rubio said:

“On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my warmest congratulations to the Government and people of Egypt on the occasion of their 74th National Day.”

Rubio said that the anniversary provides an opportunity to celebrate the enduring partnership and historic ties between the two countries.

“The United States values Egypt’s pivotal role in advancing peace, security, and prosperity in the Middle East and Africa, and we look forward to continuing our close cooperation on shared priorities in the years ahead,” he added.

Egypt and the United States have maintained a strategic partnership since the signing of the 1979 Camp David Peace Accords between Egypt and Israel, which were brokered by the United States.
