Speaker of the Pan-African Parliament: Sudan a Priority in My New Term

The Sudanese Ambassador to South Africa, Osman Abu Fatima, met on Monday with the Speaker of the Pan-African Parliament, Fathi Boutabeq, at the Parliament’s headquarters in Midrand.

Ambassador Abu Fatima congratulated the Speaker of the Pan-African Parliament on assuming his post, affirming Sudan’s support for his leadership and his program aimed at strengthening the role of the Pan-African Parliament.

He also debriefed the Speaker on developments in Sudan and the government’s efforts to achieve peace through a purely Sudanese process, calling on the Parliament to support Sudan’s sovereignty, condemn the violations committed by the Rapid Support Forces militia, bolster humanitarian efforts, and support a Sudanese-led peace process.

For his part, the Speaker of the Pan-African Parliament affirmed that the Sudanese developments will be among his top priorities, reiterating the Parliament’s readiness to support peace and stability efforts in Sudan. He announced his intention to visit Sudan to assess the situation on the ground and to engage with neighboring countries in a way that contributes to supporting Sudan’s security and stability.
