Sudan’s Security and Defense Council Responds to the Mediation Initiative

The Security and Defense Council held its regular meeting on Sunday, chaired by Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).
At the outset of its proceedings, the Council congratulated SAF, the regular forces, other supporting forces, and the popular resistance on the victories achieved on all battlefronts.
According to a press statement, the Security and Defense Council, as the sole body responsible for matters of war and peace and related negotiations, discussed the paper submitted by the mediating countries concerning the peace process in the country. It expressed its gratitude and appreciation to the mediating countries.
The Council affirmed its steadfast position on the peace process and indicated that it had prepared a unified response.
The Council emphasized that the leaks and recent discussions on social media regarding this matter are unfounded.
The Security and Defense Council called on all parties to refrain from discussing any issues that could affect national security or harm any future peace process.
The Sudanese government reiterated its openness and welcome of any initiatives that meet the aspirations and ambitions of the patient Sudanese people and preserve Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
The Council offered its condolences to the families of the martyrs and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded and injured, as well as the safe return of the prisoners and missing persons.
