Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Director General of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization, Rahba Saeed, affirmed Sudan’s complete openness during the reconstruction phase to the experiences of sister nations and to benefiting from their advanced expertise in developing the national technical testing and control system.
She emphasized that enhancing regulatory performance is a fundamental pillar for ensuring the quality of goods and reconstruction imports.
In this context, Dr. Ilham Saleh, Director of the Quality Control and Assurance Department and head of the organization’s delegation visiting Egypt, announced the great success of the technical delegation’s visit to the laboratories of the General Authority for Export and Import Control in Egypt from June 7-11.
The visit included extensive field tours of the Authority’s laboratories at Ain Sokhna Port and Cairo International Airport.
Dr. Ilham explained that the visit aimed directly to assess the high technical capabilities of the Egyptian laboratories responsible for conducting inspections of goods exported to Sudanese markets.
This is a crucial preliminary step towards signing a mutual recognition agreement for conformity certificates between the two countries.
She noted that the delegation’s tours focused extensively on food, chemical, and engineering product laboratories, where they discussed ways to integrate and harmonize the technical visions of the two bodies. This aims to ensure the flow of safe goods that meet standards and enhance bilateral trade in the coming period.
