Sudanese FM Discusses Transitional Roadmap, Reconstruction Efforts with HRC President

Sudanese Foreign Minister and Minister of International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohi El-Din Salem, met on Wednesday in Geneva with the President of the Human Rights Council, Siddaharto Suryoyo Deburo, as part of his ongoing meetings with senior officials at the United Nations and international organizations.
During the meeting, the Minister provided a comprehensive overview of the transitional roadmap and the Sudanese government’s peace initiative, focusing on the aspects related to protecting and promoting human rights in the country and the commitments included therein.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry, the Minister reviewed the efforts being made in the areas of construction, reconstruction, and infrastructure rehabilitation, with the aim of creating a conducive environment to facilitate the return of millions of refugees and internally displaced persons to their homes. He called on the international community to provide support and assistance to Sudan during this phase.
He also reiterated the government’s commitment to continued cooperation and constructive coordination with human rights mechanisms, including the Human Rights Council, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Special Expert on the situation of human rights in Sudan. For his part, the President of the Human Rights Council welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, stressing his support for the unity and stability of Sudan, and appreciating the level of cooperation and coordination shown by the Sudanese government with human rights mechanisms, the country office and the appointed expert.
