Government Condemns Militia Attack on Humanitarian Aid Convoy Bound for El Obeid
Sudan – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) has condemned the Rapid Support Forces militia’s targeting of an aid truck en route to El Obeid, North Kordofan State, on Saturday, with drones.
In a statement, the Commission said that, continuing its pattern of targeting relief convoys and preventing them from reaching their intended destinations to alleviate the suffering of Sudanese citizens, the militia targeted a humanitarian aid truck carrying 50 tons of flour—a donation from the Northern Cement Factory—on Friday evening, June 26, 2026.
According to the statement, the attack occurred near the Al-Rahad Abu Dakna area (6 kilometers from Al-Rahad), resulting in the death of the driver and serious injuries to his companions, as well as the near-total destruction of the shipment.
The Commission affirmed that this act constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and deprives millions of those in need of the aid guaranteed by international conventions. It called upon the United Nations and the international community to uphold their humanitarian and moral responsibilities by condemning this crime and exposing its perpetrators, a well-known and documented entity: the Rapid Support Forces militia.
The Commission also reiterated its full commitment to fulfilling its moral and humanitarian responsibility to deliver aid to all those in need in Sudan, emphasizing that the militia’s practices and crimes will not deter it from continuing its humanitarian role and carrying out its mission.
