The Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Commander Malik Agar, on Sunday chaired a meeting in Khartoum, that brought together most members of the government team, headed by the Prime Minister, and some 16 European officials, including envoys and ambassadors, to review and assess the situation in Sudan.
The European delegation included the Head of the European Union Delegation to Sudan and representatives from France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Hungary, as well as more than ten ambassadors.
On the Sudanese side, attendees included Sovereign Council member Abdullah Yahya, Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris, Governor of Khartoum State, Ahmed Osman Hamza, the Ministers for Foreign Affairs, Federal Governance, and Finance, the Advisor to the Chairman of the Sovereign Council for Foreign Relations Dr. Amjad Farid, and other officials.
A press release issued by the Transitional Sovereign Council’s media office stated that Deputy Chairman Malik Agar emphasized that the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue is a dialogue that concerns the Sudanese people and must begin within Sudan. He explained that discussing Sudan’s issues abroad is not beneficial.

Aqar called on the visiting European Union delegation to focus on internal Sudanese affairs and address the Sudanese people, particularly those citizens who have suffered from the war. He emphasized the importance of a rational approach to their relations with Sudan, noting that Sudan is a pivotal and important country in the region and the African continent. Therefore, it is essential to build strong relations with Sudan based on mutual respect and shared benefits.
Ambassador Jamal Malik, Director of the European Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated in a press release that the EU delegation’s visit aimed to gain a better understanding of the situation in Sudan, especially regarding political, security, and humanitarian aspects.
He explained that the Vice President of the Sovereign Council stated that it is essential to understand how the war began, its causes, and motivations. He requested that the European Union delegation familiarize themselves with the realities of life in Sudan through their current visit and meetings with officials and citizens. He indicated that the visit presents an opportunity to witness firsthand the extent of the systematic destruction perpetrated by the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia against the state, its institutions, and civilians. He urged them to analyze the situation rationally and refrain from perpetuating the narrative that the ongoing war is merely a conflict between two generals, emphasizing that the war began with a clear rebellion by the terrorist Rapid Support Forces militia, a fact witnessed by all.
Ambassador Jamal added that the Vice President asked the Europeans to speak with the Sudanese people, who stand firmly behind their armed forces and supporting forces. This, he asserted, demonstrates that the armed forces are protecting the land, honor, and defending the resources and achievements of the Sudanese people. He also requested that the European Union delegation convey the realities they observe during their visit back to their respective countries.
