The Sudanese Embassy in Beijing hosted a signing ceremony on Sunday for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on strategic cooperation between the Sudanese Agricultural Bank and Chinese Lovol Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of agricultural machinery and equipment.
The ceremony was attended by the Sudanese Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Omar Issa Ahmed, and the Director General of the Sudanese Agricultural Bank, Salah Mohamed Abdel Rahim, along with a number of officials and experts from both sides.
The Memorandum of Understanding aims to establish a comprehensive framework for cooperation in providing modern agricultural equipment and machinery, developing agricultural financing solutions, and supporting programs to modernize the Sudanese agricultural sector. It also explores opportunities for establishing maintenance and technical training centers, transferring advanced agricultural technologies to Sudan, and discussing potential cooperation in the local assembly of agricultural equipment in the future.
Sudan Radio’s correspondent in China, Osama Mukhtar, quoted the Director General of the Sudanese Agricultural Bank, Salah Mohamed Abdel Rahim, as confirming that the MOU signing represents a significant milestone in the bank’s development of international partnerships. He stated that it reflects the bank’s keenness to benefit from advanced Chinese expertise in agricultural mechanization and modern technologies, which will contribute to increasing agricultural productivity, improving the efficiency of agricultural operations, and enhancing food security.
He explained that the memorandum signed with Chinese Lovol is of particular importance given the company’s leading position in the manufacture of tractors, harvesters, and agricultural machinery. He noted that the Sudanese Agricultural Bank has a previous successful experience with the company, which involved importing and assembling more than 1,800 agricultural harvesters within a project in Gezira State. These harvesters proved highly efficient and were widely valued and in high demand by farmers due to their suitability to local agricultural conditions.
He added that the memorandum of understanding represents an extension of the existing partnership between the two parties and opens new horizons for the Sudanese Agricultural Bank to expand its provision of modern agricultural machinery, thereby strengthening farmers’ capabilities and supporting efforts to develop the agricultural sector and increase productivity in Sudan.
The signing of the memorandum culminated a series of meetings held by the Sudanese delegation during its current visit to China with several Chinese financial, development, and industrial institutions.
In Beijing, the delegation held talks with the Agricultural Bank of China (ABC), one of the world’s largest agricultural banks, where the two sides discussed opportunities for banking cooperation and the exchange of expertise in agricultural finance, financing large-scale projects, and supporting small producers.
The Chinese side expressed its readiness to enhance cooperation with the Sudanese Agricultural Bank in areas of mutual interest.
The delegation also met with the Shandong High Speed Group, discussing opportunities for financing agricultural projects and developing infrastructure and logistics services to support the agricultural sector.
In Weifang, Shandong Province, the delegation conducted field visits to several leading agricultural equipment manufacturers, most notably Lovol, where they were briefed on the latest production lines and technologies used in manufacturing tractors and agricultural machinery. This paved the way for the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the two sides.
The tour extended to Jiangsu Province, where the delegation visited FAMSUN and Zhengchang, companies specializing in feed technologies, processing, storage systems, and silos. The tour concluded in Henan Province with visits to YTO and SRON, where the delegation was briefed on the latest technologies in tractor manufacturing, agricultural equipment, and modern storage and silo systems.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding with Lovol, along with the delegation’s meetings with Chinese financial, development, and industrial institutions, reflects Sudan’s commitment to building strategic partnerships that contribute to modernizing the agricultural sector, enhancing production and productivity, and expanding economic and technical cooperation between Sudan and China. This cooperation aims to support food security and sustainable development in the country.
