Darfur Governor, Minni Arko Minawi. stated that Sudan deserves a genuine and just peace that preserves its unity and the dignity of its people. He emphasized his rejection of any superficial settlement that grants legitimacy to those who have committed crimes and violations against citizens.

In his address on Wednesday to the Sudanese people in general, and to the people of Darfur in particular, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, Minawi said that any successful political process has to be based on six fundamental principles. Foremost among these is preserving Sudan’s unity and full sovereignty, and rejecting negative foreign interventions that have contributed to fueling the conflict and supporting ethnic cleansing and genocide.
He explained that other principles include the return of displaced persons to their homes, the withdrawal of Rapid Support Forces (RSF) armed elements from cities and residential areas to restore civilian life, and achieving justice and holding perpetrators of crimes accountable, especially in El Geneina, Zamzam, and El Fasher.
He also emphasized respecting the will of the Sudanese people to determine their own destiny, free from foreign interference, and working towards building a comprehensive national project that establishes a just state where everyone is equal without discrimination or exclusion.
The governor congratulated Sudanese people, and especially the displaced, refugees, orphans, widows, and bereaved families of Darfur, praying that Allah would bring security and stability back to the country. He offered prayers for the souls of the martyrs, including children, women, and civilians, and saluted the brave fighters who defended their land and dignity.

Minawi also commended the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), the regular forces, the joint forces, and all those who stood against injustice, praying that this Eid would mark the beginning of a new era of peace, unity, and recovery.
